Social Anxiety Disorder in Adults【Richmond】

The Richmond Public Library will be hosting a free program called “Social Anxiety Disorder in Adults” on May 29th from 7-9 p.m. at the Brighouse (Main) Branch, performance hall, located at 7700 Minoru Gate. Quote program # 434. “The guest speakers are Dr. Lynda Murdoch and Dr. Sandra Yuk Shuen Wong, both registered psychologists,” said library communications officer, Shelley Civkin. “They’ll be discussing: What is Social Anxiety Disorder? What are the symptoms? What effective treatments are available? and much more,” added Civkin.

“Our guest speakers will be followed by Arto Tienaho, executive director of Anxiety BC, and Jessica Bruhn, a Youth in Residence peer support worker at BC Children’s Hospital, who will be sharing their personal perspective on what it’s like to experience Social Anxiety Disorder firsthand. There will be time after the presentation for questions from the audience,” added Civkin.

 

This joint partnership between Richmond Public Library, the Canadian Mental Health Association (Richmond Branch), AnxietyBC, Richmond Supporting Families with Parental Mental Illness, and BC Psychological Association is free and open to everyone. Registration is required.

 

Dr. Murdoch completed her Ph.D in clinical Psychology in 2002 and works with youth, adults and families with mental health needs, in her private practice at the Living Health Clinic in Steveston. Her practice includes a balance of psychological assessment, treatment, consultation and case planning. Dr. Wong received her Doctoral degree from UBC and has been in private practice offering psychological services in English, Cantonese, Mandarin and Taiwanese for immigrants with physical, cognitive, relational and emotional difficulties. She work with children, teenagers and adults
